Logging Into a School or Personal Chromebook With Your School Account From Home

When CMS starting sending Chromebooks home at some schools, they wanted to make sure that the students were on a filtered network while using a school device.  As a result, to even use a personal device with a school account, there are a few additional steps to log in. The perk is that they are on the same filtered network as at school.  Follow the directions below to register with our Zscaler security system.

1. Log in to the Chromebook like you normally do.

Username: studentID@student.cms.k12.nc.us

(example: 123456789@student.cms.k12.nc.us)

Password: YYYYMMDD

2. Once you enter the first website, you will encounter the filtering process.

Type in your username like this:
StudentID@cms.k12.nc.us
(Notice the word student is removed from the domain this time)

3. Last screen of credentials type in your

Username: studentID@cms.k12.nc.us (again the word student is missing from the domain)

Password: YYYYMMDD (Birthdate)

2nd Grade uses: Cmsx and 4 digits

Nombre de usuario: studentID@student.cms.k12.nc.us

(ejemplo: 123456789@student.cms.k12.nc.us)

Contraseña: YYYYMMDD (Fecha de nacimiento)

Nombre de usuario: StudentID@cms.k12.nc.us

(Aviso estudiante ha sido removido)

Nombre de usuario: studentID@cms.k12.nc.us

(Aviso estudiante ha sido removido)

Contraseña: YYYYMMDD (Fecha de nacimiento)

Segundo grado usara Cmsx y los cuatro dígitos
