Welcome Back Information from Mr. Cook

Hello Wilson STEM Academy Families,

This is Principal Jeff Cook reaching out to share information in preparation for the upcoming week.

First, we are ready and looking forward to welcoming back to campus all scholars in Rotation A tomorrow through Friday of this week.  If your child is in Rotation A, please remind him or her to  be sure to leave home with the following items:

  1.  Mask

  2.  Charged Chromebook & Power Cord

  3.  Notebook, Pens, & Pencils

  4.  Water bottle

Also, if possible, remind them to complete the CMS Symptoms Screener found on our website (https://schools.cms.k12.nc.us/wilsonstemMS) prior to leaving for school each morning this week. Of special note, be sure that you only send your child to the building if they are in Rotation A this week.  Social distancing requirements do not permit us to have scholars in Rotations B, C, or D in the building this week.  Should a scholar report to the building when it is not their assigned rotation, arrangements will be made for them to be picked up from the campus. Again, we look forward to scholars in Rotation A reporting to the building this week.  All other scholars will log in remotely, as usual, by 9:15.

Second, if your child will be a car rider, if possible please fill out the following form so that it is ready to be distributed to a staff member tomorrow morning upon your arrival.  The CAR RIDER SIGN UP FORM form can also be found on our website.  Please note that scholars can be dropped off no earlier than 8:45 AM.  Please pull up to the main entrance of the building.  Prior to your child exiting your car, their temperature will be taken and the CMS Symptoms Screener will be completed. Afternoon dismissal for car riders will begin at 4:10 PM.  A staff member will call your child from the cafeteria upon your arrival.  Please be sure to arrive to pick up your child no later than 4:20 PM. Please note that the latest possible time for early dismissal is 3 PM.

Third, we are pleased to share our 3rd quarter family newsletter, “The Wolverine Word” (The Wolverine Word ~ Issue 3). You can access our special Black History Month edition by going to our website.

Fourth, Mission 350 is hosting a Free Food Give-a-Way on Thursday, February 25th for interested families between noon and 1:30 PM at Freedom Communities on 3501 Tuckasegee Road.

Finally, just a reminder that the 3rd term ends in three weeks on Thursday, March 11th. We need your help as many scholars have grades much lower than they should be despite our teachers’ efforts to go all out with helping scholars to make up missed work. If you have not done so recently, please check out your child’s grades in the Parent PowerSchool portal.  Of course, if you have questions about your child’s progress, do not hesitate to reach out to their teachers as we are here to partner with you to ensure your child’s success.

On behalf of our staff we look forward to seeing our scholars in Rotation A beginning tomorrow.

Important Announcement

Dear Parent/Guardians(s): Wilson STEM Academy has car rider procedures and rules in an effort to provide the safest and most efficient environment for our students. These procedures help us make sure your child is picked up by the appropriate person and speeds up car rider dismissal. Upon completion of this form, you will receive a number to be displayed in the front windshield of your car at dismissal. Please click the link below to complete the form.
