End of Year Testing and Activities Announcement

Hello Wilson STEM Academy Families,

This is Principal Jeff Cook reaching out to share information about required End-of-Grade Testing as well other special events occurring later this month.  Know that all the information I am sharing will be posted on our website for your reference, as well.

Your child will be taking the North Carolina End of Grade (EOG) and End of Course (EOC). This test is given to all students.

Rotation A (In Person) Schedule

Wednesday, May 12 ~ ELA End of Grade (EOG)

Friday, May 14 ~ Math End of Grade (EOG) and Math 1 End of Course (EOC)

Wednesday, May 19 ~ Science End of Grade (EOG) - 8th Grade Students ONLY

Rotation D (Full Remote Academy)

Thursday, May 20th ~ ELA End of Grade (EOG)

Friday, May 21st ~ Math End of Grade (EOG)

Monday, May 24 ~ Science End of Grade (EOG) - 8th Grade Students ONLY

Please note that Full Remote Academy scholars are required to take these tests in the building and that transportation will be provided.

Please make every effort to have your child at school on time on days that this test is being administered, so that we may begin testing promptly in the morning.  This test measures the academic growth your child has made over the course of the year and determines the degree to which they have mastered grade-level content.  It goes without saying that it is imperative that your child puts forth their best effort on this test.  Know that our teachers have worked incredibly hard to ensure that your child is prepared to do very well. It is better to encourage your child to be relaxed, rather than to encourage additional drills or extra study at the last minute. Plenty of sleep and a good breakfast before testing is helpful since alert students perform better. Your child will need to bring two No. 2 pencils to school. If you have any questions, please contact Crystal Davis at or by calling 980-343-6070.

All of our end-of-year ceremonies will be virtual events - per district guidelines.  They will all occur on Friday, May 28th the last day of school.  In addition to an 8th-grade virtual Moving On Ceremony, we will have an 8th Grade Family Drive Thru event beginning at 3:15 on May 28th.  We will also celebrate our 8th graders at a cookout that will occur during lunchtime on Thursday, May 27th.  More details about our end-of-year celebrations will be shared within the next few weeks.

Finally, just a reminder that Wednesday is an early release day for all CMS students.  All scholars will log in remotely by 9:15 and the day will conclude by lunch at 12:15.  Scholars will rotate through all classes between 9:15 - 12:15.  Our Early Release Day bell schedule can also be found online.

This Week @ WSA

This is Principal Jeff Cook reaching out to share info pertaining to the upcoming week and the final month of the school year.

First, CMS has made the decision to merge several of the Camp CMS middle school programs rather than having each school host its own program.  As a result, current 6th and 7th graders at Wilson enrolled in Camp CMS will attend the program at Whitewater Middle School.  Current 8th graders at Wilson enrolled in Camp CMS will attend the program at the high school they will be attending for the upcoming school year.  Those families that enrolled their children in Camp CMS by the deadline have received a seat and will be receiving information from the district about transportation assignments and other Camp CMS details toward the end of the month.  For those families that missed the registration deadline and would like their child to attend Camp CMS, please call the school and we can put your name on a waitlist.  While no guarantees can be made for late enrollees, the district will try to accommodate all families that desire to have their child participate.

Second, please encourage your child to participate in our Virtual Science Fair.  The registration deadline for this exciting event is Monday, May 3rd.  The project deadline is May 23rd.  Really cool prizes will be awarded to first, second, and third-place finishers in each grade level.  For more details and to register, scholars can go

Third, please save the date for our next Family Empowerment Workshop on Wednesday, May 19th from 6:00 - 7:30.  More details about this event including RSVP info can be found on our website or by viewing this flyer.

Finally, I will be sending out another call and email to all families Monday evening with the final details about End of Grade testing and our End of Year celebrations including our 8th Grade Moving On Celebration.
