We NEED YOU to complete!!
All parents please take a minute to complete the Student Emergency Form (formally the blue card) . It is especially critical to be able to get in touch with all of our families this year. For your convenience we have it available in English & Spanish.
Chromebook and Class Materials Drive-Through
This year, Whitewater Middle School has decided to make sure each student has a Chromebook. We will be hosting a Chromebook and Class Materials Drive-Through (see dates below). Additionally, all students need to pick up their ELA and Math workbooks as they will be needed to complete their Remote Learning classes. All students who do not currently have a Chromebook can come to WMS to pick up their technology and charger. You will also need your student’s CMS Student ID number to be issued their Chromebook.
Dates and Time:
Wednesday, August 12th from 12:00 - 4:00
Friday, August 14th from 9:00 - 12:00
Please enter through the bus lot between our school and Whitewater Academy. Linked here is a map to help guide you. We can’t wait to see you!
Good evening Whitewater Middle families. This is principal Jessica Savage calling with important information for the beginning of the year.
Earlier this week the CMS Board of Education voted to have all students start school remotely this year. This means that students will not be attending an in person orientation session as previously stated. While we are sad to not be able to connect with our students in person, the health and safety of all stakeholders will always be the priority. Students enrolled in the Full Remote Academy will remain in that option. If during the school year the Board decides health metrics have improved enough to allow a safe return to in-classroom learning, students who are not enrolled in the Full Remote Academy will return to their assigned schools based on the schedule to be provided at that time.
The Whitewater staff is committed to ensuring that all students have everything they need for a successful start to the school year. We have three events that you will want to be sure to participate in.
The first event will be a technology, course material and supply pick up. All students will need a chromebook, and course workbooks. We will host a drive through pick up on August 12th from 12:00-4:00 and on August 14th from 9:00-12:00. If you attended the parent meeting last week, please note the change of date. Please make sure you stop by the school during one of these times to get the materials. If your child has a chromebook from last year, please come to get your workbooks. If your child has an iPad from last year, we would still like for you to get a chromebook as these devices are more compatible with this year’s learning platforms. If you are in need of a hotspot for internet access, we will have those available as well. Again, we will host a drive through pick up on August 12th from 12:00-4:00 and on August 14th from 9:00-12:00. All families should attend.
The second event will be a virtual Open House. During this time you will be able to view information on student expectations for the year and meet with teachers, administrators and support staff over Zoom. This event is scheduled for August 12 with the live sessions running from 10:00-11:00 am and from 5:00-6:00 pm. The website will be up for you to view pre-recorded videos beginning at 9:00 am on August 12th.
The third event is offered by CMS and is an opportunity for you to learn about Canvas. Virtual Family Canvas Connects will be held for all CMS students and families to ensure they have a consistent experience when using Canvas, the district’s learning management platform where all students will receive and submit assignments and get instruction. Families can register now on the CMS homepage; topics will include what to expect with Canvas, how to access the Canvas app and pair it with a student account, and the functions available to parents. Sessions will be held Aug. 10, 6-7 p.m.; Aug. 12, 8-9 a.m.; and Aug. 14, noon-1 p.m.
All of this information will be posted to our website for your review. Please contact the school if you have any questions. Thank you and have a great evening.
