Waddell Language Academy offers K-5 students the chance to participate in full language immersion programs in one of four languages: Chinese, French, German or Japanese. (Spanish K-8 immersion programs are offered at Collinswood Language Academy and Oaklawn Language Academy.) Students are admitted to the program in Kindergarten and are chosen through the magnet school lottery. Students who possess advanced second language skills have the opportunity to be assessed by our teachers and may enter the immersion program at any grade level, acceptance is contingent upon space availability in the desired program.

For more information about the individual languages offered in grades K-5, please see these pages:

News:

At the beginning of each school year, Mrs. Pylant does a collaborative art project with her students. This year has forced us to be more creative but she still found a way to show it all off!

Her K-3 students read The Color Monster and discussed how artists use colors to show mood and emotions. Students then drew their own monster and filled it in with colors that are associated with their feelings. The more a specific color is used, the stronger that feeling. Check it out!
