Egypt in your Backyard Field Trip

As part of TD study of Ancient Egyptian culture, we invited "The World in Our Backyard" to come and do an Ancient Egypt presentation for our students.  "The World in Our Backyard" representatives set up and taught a very engaging and interesting lesson about Ancient Egyptian history and culture.  The students even got to dress in costumes from the time period and see real artifact from Egypt!

S. Miller's "Egg Drop" Projec

TD students participated in an egg drop this September. A raw egg was placed in each student's creation, and it was dropped from a ladder. Students then reflected on whether their projects worked and how they could improve upon them.

Girls on the Run is a program designed for 3rd-5th grade girls that promotes a healthy lifestyle and prepares them to run a 5K.  Girls on the Run incorporates lessons that build self confidence and reinforces how to positively handle emotions . The girls also learn to reflect upon what is important to them and the dynamics for building healthy relationships.  Our 10 week curriculum is divided into 3 sections:

Identity - self care, self-awareness, knowing self

Connectedness - selecting healthy relationships and keeping them healthy

Empowerment - celebrating and sharing our strengths
