Dear New Southwest Elementary School Family!

I am honored to announce that I will be serving as the new principal of “New” Elementary School slated to open August 2021. Opening a brand new school will be a challenge but with that challenge comes extraordinary possibilities. Alongside a fabulous team, I helped open Parkside Elementary in 2015. When I was named the principal of Parkside, I had one goal in mind. It was to create a community that embodies what it means to truly love, learn, and lead. I focused on building relationships with all stakeholders and worked to establish a firm foundation for families that was all inclusive, collaborative and without judgment.

Being the principal of Parkside is one of my greatest honors and having the opportunity to build our new school fills me with excitement that is driven by purpose. The foundation and culture we establish in the year ahead can lead us to sustained success for years to come. I look forward to building that culture with all of you. I am excited about the opportunity to create something great, together and wanted to give you just a little information about me!

What I value about education

  • Teaching is an opportunity to create an experience.
  • I believe in a community where trust and mutual respect is the norm.

  • I value a collaborative decision-making process. A process that always keeps the best interest of the learner at the heart of every conversation.

  • Together, we create the environment of our school.  We have an opportunity to establish and maintain a positive school culture.

I am really looking forward to meeting each of you over the course of the remainder of the school year. I know that change can be difficult especially when you have more questions than answers. I hope that I am able to answer lots of questions for you in the weeks to come. We will work together to make this transition as smooth as possible for all of us.

Please know that I made a commitment to my staff that I will remain at Parkside until a highly qualified candidate has been identified. I also asked to have time to transition with the newly identified leader. I believe…..It’s not how you start the race, it’s how you finish.

I plan to finish strong, so that when I begin my new venture, I can be fully committed. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to email me. Have an amazing week. Looking forward to building something GREAT….together.

Respectfully,

Dianna Newman
