According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Board policy, extreme styles in clothing and grooming may be detrimental to the maintenance of discipline, student safety, and morale in school. Student dress or grooming that is substantially and materially disruptive to the learning environment or to student health or safety is prohibited. The principal and her staff are responsible for determining and enforcing regulations governing proper dress and grooming of students.
RRHS Dress Code:
Clothing that is significantly disruptive to the learning environment or to student health and safety is prohibited.
Students are required to wear shoes at all times. Athletic slides, slippers and bedroom shoes are not permitted.
Skirts, shorts, and dresses shorter than 3 inches from the top of the knee (regardless of the length of your arm) are not permitted.
Tops must cover the chest, back, stomach, and shoulders (2 fingers width).
Headgear (i.e., hoods, hats, knit caps, do rags, bandannas, head wraps, sunglasses) inside of the building is not permitted, except for religious purposes.
Pants and shorts must be worn at the waist. Undergarments should not be visible.
Blankets or other large drapped items are not to be worn.
Pants with holes or frayed areas above the knees are not allowed unless worn with leggings.
Form-fitting clothes, biker shorts, pajamas, or see-through clothing are not permitted.
Any clothing that displays offensive language/pictures or clothing considered inappropriate by administration is not permitted (i.e., gang activity, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, violence, nudity, obscene language or slogans/pictures that are demeaning to any group or gender).
Interventions & Consequences:
1st Violation - Verbal warning for non-compliance & opportunity to correct clothing violation
2nd Violation - Parent Contact/Communication
3rd and Subsequent Violations - Administrative Referral
Students who have the following dress code violations will be placed in ISS until the clothing is corrected.
Wearing clothing that is significantly disruptive to the learning environment.
Wearing clothing that displays gang activity, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, violence, nudity, obscene language or slogans/pictures that are demeaning to any group or gender.
