Cell Phone and Personal Technology Policy

RRHS Cell Phone/Personal Technology Policy:

  1. Student cell phone/personal technology use in the building is prohibited during school hours, except during their assigned lunch period. 

  2. Students may use their cell phones/personal technology devices before 7:10 am, during their assigned lunch period, and after 2:10 pm.

  3. Staff & administration are not responsible for lost or stolen cell phones/personal technology devices.

  4. Staff and administration will not disrupt instruction to conduct searches for lost or stolen cell phones/personal technology devices.

  5. Lost or stolen phones/personal technology devices may be reported to Rocky River's School Resource Officer(s).

Interventions & Consequences:

  1. First Offense - Teacher will provide a verbal warning & conference with student.

  2. Second Offense - Teacher may: a) confiscate phone and return at the end of the block or b) confiscate phone, submit to main office, contact parent.

  3. Third Offense - Teacher will submit an administrative referral for the 3rd violation or for student refusal to relinquish cell phone/personal technology device.

Cell Phone/Personal Technology Devices that are Confiscated and Turned into the Main Office:

  1. Parents may pick up their student's confiscated cell phone/personal technology device from the main office.

  2. Students may retrieve their confiscated cell phone/personal technology device from main office on Fridays during their lunch period.

  3. Students who have their cell phone/personal technology device confiscated twice or more will be referred to grade level administrator.
