Clubs and Organizations

Project Unify: 

Sponsors: Kenyanti Brooks and Tammye Layer.  Meets Thursdays @ 8:20-8:45.  Begins Sept. 20.  Open to 7th and 8th graders.  Students can fill out an application that will come out during the first week of September.  Description: Project Unify is a organization that works to support inclusion within the school community. Students will assist Extensions students are the Olympic Games and also assist at the yearly middle school Extensions Prom at Ridge Road Middle School.  A application will be made available the first week of September.

Astronomy Club:

Sponsor: Mrs. Vickers.  Meets Thursdays from 4:20-5:20.  Begins 10/1. Open to all grade levels. Description: Discovering the Cosmos!  See Mrs. Vickers for a permission form.

Mock Trial:

Sponsors: Mrs. Gilbert, Prof. Jones and Mrs. Pauling.  Meets Tuesday and Thursdays.  Morning starting at 7:45 and afternoons at 5:30. Begins 9/15. Open to all grades. Description: Competitive club that reenacts court cases. Students work with teachers and local attorneys to formulate their case. They play either the role of witness or attorney. Tryouts will be held in September. Students can listen to the morning announcements to get more details.

I Reign

Sponsors: Ms. Scott and Ms. Ellison.  Meets Wednesdays at 6:00.  Begins 10/10.  Open to all grades.  Description: Reign is a program designed to encourage and empower the young ladies of Ridge Road Middle School to become their best self. The program will provide an opportunity for young girls to learn how to first love their self, communicate, and educate one another. Yearbook Club

Sponsor: Mrs. Diandrea Brown.  Meets Tuesdays at 7:30.  Begins on 9/18.  Open to 7th and 8th graders.  Description: This club plans and puts together the yearbook.

Art Club

Sponsor: Mrs. Diandrea Brown.  Meets Thursdays at 7:30.  Begins 9/20.  Open to 6th, 7th and 8th graders.  Description: Art club creates projects for the school and the community

Tech Club

Sponsors: Mr. Melnik and Mrs. Maribeth Brown.  Meets Thursdays at 8:00am.  Details will be announced as to start date.  Open to 6th-8th graders.  Description: Tech Club explores new and existing technology and uses technology to create.

Ping-Pong Club

Sponsor: Mr. Melnik.  Meets Wednesdays after school until 5:30.  Will begin in September.  Open to everyone. ASL Club

Sponsor: Mrs. Schilling.  Meets Fridays at 8:00-8:45.  Begins 9/28.  Open to all grades.  Description: We will learn American Sign Language and about the deaf community. To sign up, go to Mrs. Schilling's web page and click on the ASL CLUB link. 

Battle of the Books

Sponsors: Dr. Lee and Mrs. Brown.  Meets Fridays from 7:45-8:45.  Begins 9/21.  Description: Students will read Battle of the Books 2018-19 novels and prepare to compete against other school teams. They will answer questions related to the novels. Competition will occur during the spring. See Mrs. Brown in the media center for an application.

Kindness Club

Sponsor: Mrs. Clay.  Meets Thursdays from 8:00-8:45.  Begins 9/27.  Description: Character Education Theme..May follow monthly character education traits...members will make theme appropriate objects using arts and crafts. Open to 6th graders.  I will have an interest survey sheet in my room - 611 - I will make a general announcement on our morning news. 

Library Team

Sponsor: Maribeth Brown.  Monday-Friday.  Begins 9/10.  Description: The Library team will be responsible for organizing the collection, assisting students with finding books and other resources, shelving books, and assisting with checking resources in and out. Furthermore, students will assist with Chromebooks and student badges. Students are expected to arrive at school at 8:45, check in with their first block teachers, and to work quietly and diligently until 9:15.  All grade levels are welcome. Applications are available in the media center. Applications are due September 18th.

Broadcast Team

Sponsor: Maribeth Brown.  Meets everyday.  Begins 9/20.  All grades welcome to apply. Description: To participate, students should submit an application to Ms.Brown by September 18th. Auditions are September 18th at 8:00 AM. You must turn in your application prior to auditions.

Team Trivia and More

Sponsor: Mr. Fusek.  Meets Fridays.  Begins 9/14. Runs from 8:00-8:45. Description: Team Trivia and fun, non-electronic games.  Open to all grade levels.  To join, see Mr. Fusek or send him an email.

RRMS Sports Club

Sponsor: Mr. Wells and Mr. Womack.   Meets Tuesdays. Begins 9/11.  Runs from 8:00-8:30.  Description: Basketball club is open to ALL grades and ALL students who are interested. This club will be an important way for students to learn the fundamentals as well as get an extra opportunity to showcase their talents. To join: Students who come to initial open gym will be given pass and all names will be logged in google docs.

Mr. Cheeks will lead strength and conditioning drills for any male or female athlete interested in playing any sports here at Ridge Road Middle School. Conditioning will be held on Tuesday and Thursday from 4:45 pm - 5:45 pm, starting on 9/25/2018.
