Dr. Leah Davis, moved to Charlotte (from Milwaukee, Wisconsin----Go Packers!) in 1996 where her first teaching position was teaching Kindergarten at Ashley Park Elementary School. Her teaching career later gave her the opportunity to teach students K-5 over the years in a variety of multi-age classroom settings. Deciding she wanted to extend her impact beyond the classroom, she pursued and was selected to be a North Carolina Principal Fellow, attaining her Masters in School Administration at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. After completing this program, she served as an assistant principal at three different CMS schools before attaining her first principalship in CMS at Montclaire Elementary school in July 2006.  In March, 2010, Mrs. Davis was chosen by Dr. Peter Gorman, as a Strategic Staffing Principal and was assigned to Albemarle Road Elementary. Mrs. Davis served as an elementary principal for 12 years and during the 2015-2016 school year while principal at Torrence Creek Elementary, she was nominated by her peers in the North Learning Community to compete for principal of the year for Charlotte Mecklenburg School District.  In July 2017, she became the proud principal of Ridge Road Middle School.  This past June, 2018 Mrs. Davis defended her dissertation and achieved her doctorate in Education from NC State University. Dr. Davis resides in the RRMS community with her son and husband and is committed to bolstering public education in the Charlotte community.



Mr. Craig Higgins - 7th Grade Administrator 

This is Mr. Higgins first year at Ridge Road Middle School.  He currently serves as the 7th grade Assistant Principal. Mr. Higgins comes from a long line of educators, both his mother and father as well as his sister are involved in education. Before moving to NC, Mr. Higgins grew up in a small town in Wyoming.  He received his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education Teaching from the University of Wyoming. He later received his Masters of Arts in Executive Leadership from Gardner Webb University. This is Mr. Higgins 15th year in education, serving them all  in CMS. Before coming to Ridge Road, he taught two years at both Davidson and Paw Creek elementary. From there he taught seven years at JV Washam elementary before becoming a Dean of Students at Elon Park Elementary for three years. The last two years prior to coming to Ridge Road, Mr. Higgins was an assistant principal at Mountain Island Lake Academy, which is a Pre-K - 8th school.

Mr. Higgins has been married for ten  wonderful years to his wife Dana, who is also teaches at Davidson Elementary.  They both enjoy their time with their two young children, Peyton who is 7 year old, as well as Brody who is 5 years old.  The Higgins family also enjoys their new addition to the family, Sweetie, who is a 2 year old yellow lab. When not at Ridge Road or spending time with his family, Mr. Higgins enjoys staying active, being in the outdoors, and reading a good book.


Mrs. Patrice Brand- 8th Grade Administrator


Mrs. Brand serves as the 8th grade Assistant Principal. She is a native of Shelby, NC.  Mrs. Brand is the middle child with an older and younger brother…so you already know what that means!! She is a product of loving parents who instilled hard-work ethics, dedication, and competition at an early age.  As a 6th grader, she tutored 5th grade students in Math and Language Arts.  She loved to help her aunt grade papers!  She comes from a long line of educators and even married a fellow educator, Aaron Brand, who is the head football coach at Vance High School.  Mrs. Brand is the proud mother of 2 intelligent and compassionate little people, Aaron Jr. who is 11 years old and Paedyn, who is 8 years old.  In her spare time, she enjoys yelling for everyone's kids at the football field, basketball court, baseball diamond, and gym.  She also sings in church on the Praise Team and is the youth choir director. 

Prior to becoming an administrator, she was a High School Science teacher for 11 ½ years, Dean of Students at Cochrane Collegiate Academy for 1 ½ years and a curriculum coordinator for the former Northeast Learning Community for 2 years.   Most recently, she served as the assistant principal at North Mecklenburg High School for 3 years before transitioning to Ridge Road Middle School.  She received her Bachelors of Science with a concentration in Biology and High School Education from Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, NC and was a 3 year starter for the women's basketball team.  Mrs. Brand later received her Masters of Arts in School Administration from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC. 

Mrs. Brand has a passion for children.  She believes that all students can and will learn in the right environment.  Regardless of a students' background, they deserve the opportunity to excel without limitations.  

Mr. Patrick Ledford - 6th Grade Dean of Students

Mr. Ledford serves as the 6th grade administrator.  The 2018-2019 school year will be his second year at Ridge Road Middle School.  He is a Charlotte native and grew up attending Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.  Mr. Ledford was raised in a loving family with high expectations regarding education and developing a strong work ethic.  He is the middle child in his family with two sisters.  His older sister currently works at Myers Park High School as a social studies teacher and his younger sister is a school counselor at Lake Norman High School.  Mr. Ledford grew up playing baseball and was an All-Conference catcher at North Mecklenburg High School.  He also was a bullpen catcher for the Kannapolis Intimidators.  After graduating from North Mecklenburg High School, Mr. Ledford attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and obtained a degree in middle grades education.  He taught high school math for five years at Independence High School, while also serving as a baseball coach and a Principal Intern.  Mr. Ledford obtained his Masters in School Administration through the UNCC Aspiring High School Principal's program.  He became an administrator because he has a passion for helping others and strives to make a positive difference schoolwide.  Being a Charlotte Native, Mr. Ledford loves the Carolina Panthers.  He also loves to play golf and enjoys being active.
