Welcome to RWSA
Happy New Year!
We have had some pretty incredible experiences the first 100 days of school! We continue our laser-like focus on literacy with our brand new literacy curriculum in grades K-6. Teachers are excited to see our scholars persevering and inquiring. Minds are being stretched and it is breath-taking to see students proud to do hard work. Everywhere I turn I see examples of our phenomenal Renaissance West mission: We will nurture, develop, and celebrate the whole child while creating an emotionally safe, hands-on, collaborative learning environment where scholars are passionate, reflective, critical thinkers, and push through all challenges-academic and behavioral-and THRIVE.
Community and Faith partners are providing tutoring, individual reading time, books, holiday gifts, lunch buddies, classroom supplies, snacks, guest presentations, and the list goes on. I am so pleased that our parents are actively engaged and have formed a Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA). The Holiday Music Concert and the Winter Extravaganza were incredible. Dads are showing up and showing out. Donuts for Dads was a huge hit! Please take a moment to read this article about the Winter Extravaganza and this one about our partnership with Classroom Central.
Our focus this year is clearly on improving the teaching and learning of all. Teachers have been working tirelessly to implement our literacy curriculum and strengthen our math instruction. We are working to maximize every minute in our school day. I encourage you to continue the love of storytelling and reading to learn new information by providing at least 30 minutes a day for your child to delve into a book, magazine, or an online text.
We would like every moment at school to be a teachable moment! Getting your child to school every day, on time, for the full day, provides the most opportunity to get them the education they deserve and the one they crave. Breakfast is served from 7:50 am to 8:20 am and school starts promptly at 8:30 am. Like a good movie, don't miss a minute of what happens next!
As always, thank you for being present, involved, and supportive in the education of our children. Our theme for this year is from Mother Theresa, "I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot. Together we can do GREAT things." This is our constant reminder that it takes all of us in the village to raise our children to be passionate, reflective, critical thinkers, and push through all challenges-academic and behavioral-and THRIVE.
Thank you for trusting us and partnering with us as we work together to fulfill our mission.
Peace & Blessings,
Stacey C. Clark
