Key Dates for Lottery Applications Round 1
late- November 2020-December 9, 2020: Student Assignment Notification letters begin arriving in homes.
If you do not receive your Student Notification letter by December 9, 2020, please call Student Placement (980-343-5335).
November 30, 2020-December 11, 2020 at 10:00 PM: Application period for the Round I choice lottery.
late-December 2020: Lottery notifications letters for Round I choice lottery arrive in homes.
January 25, 2021- February 5, 2021 at 10:00 PM: Application period for the Round II choice lottery.
mid- February, 2021: Lottery notifications letters for Round II choice lottery arrive in homes.
Reassignment & Transfer Period
February 22, 2021- March 15, 2021*: Request for Reassignment Period for the district.
*Students brand new or re-enrolling to the district after this date will have 10 business days after enrolling to submit a request for reassignment for the 2021- 2022 school year. Application does not guarantee approval.
March 16, 2021- June 11, 2021**: Request for Transfer period in order to receive an answer by the start of school.
**Students brand new, re-enrolling or current CMS students can apply to schools not listed on the Superintendent's Closed School List. Application does not guarantee approval.
Northwest School of the Arts

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Virtual High School
We know that this pandemic has been a challenge for our eighth graders. We also know that many have been able to thrive in remote learning. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Virtual High School is a CMS Magnet offering a highly personalized learning program where students take their courses entirely online with the support of a highly qualified, fully licensed teacher. Our coursework is rigorous, and students are required to complete work in each class every day. CMVHS provides students the flexibility to work independently and even at an accelerated pace. We offer a course catalog of diverse and engaging offerings including Honors, Advanced Placement (AP), and courses offered through partnerships with CPCC’s College and Career Promise Dual Enrollment Program, North Carolina Virtual Public School and North Carolina School of Science and Math. Additionally, CMVHS students are eligible to participate in athletics and performing arts at their assigned high school.
