ATTENDANCE

Please note that we will be taking attendance daily/per class and students are expected to be in attendance every day. There is no way to express how important participating daily in each class period will be this year. We will intentionally teach and review work EVERYDAY. Unlike the spring, all work assignments will be graded and count towards your child’s academic progress.

PARENT, TEACHER, STUDENT ASSOCIATION (PTA)

Oakdale Elementary has had great improvements in support of its PTA over the past couple of years. The PTA is one of the strongest and most critical organizations within the school. This group provides parents with an organized way to get involved, give input, and work to ensure that students have resources, materials, incentives, and opportunities that they need to be successful. Our previous executive board has “graduated” so we are soliciting new parents willing to serve on the PTA board If you are interested, please call Ms. Dennis (980-343-6076).

COMMUNICATION

Good communication between the home and the school is an important part of the educational process. The school news will be posted on the school website. The newsletter will highlight upcoming events as well as contain a Principal’s message to keep you fully informed of what is happening at your child’s school. Oakdale Elementary’s Website: Oakdale-Elementary Oakdale Elementary Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theoaknc/

Please make it your responsibility to contact your child’s teachers by phone or email for questions or updates about your child’s progress. Inquiries should always start with the teacher, as he/she has first hand knowledge about your child’s performance. It is our goal that all phone calls and email inquiries be returned within 24 hours.

We will be utilizing a new communication system this year called Parent Square, which will use email and a phone messaging system to contact parents with information relevant to the entire school. It is very important that we have correct phone numbers and email addresses in our system so that you will be contacted with updates or in case of emergency. Please update all contact information by contacting your child’s grade level team or by calling the school. More details about Parent Square will come soon.
