Striving for more

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is a great district, one that I am proud to lead. But we can't stand still – we need to make it even better! To do that, we must provide every student with the opportunity to gain big-picture literacy skills. Reading. Writing. Thinking. Viewing. Understanding. Fluency with technology.

We also need to provide the learning environments where students can acquire these skills – and that's why we've got a $922 million bond request on the ballot Nov. 7. As employees, all of us should be well informed about the bonds, why they are needed and how the money would be spent.

We also want to provide you, our employees, with the best working conditions possible – safe, modern, clean spaces that will enable you to maximize instruction for our kids. What benefits our students and schools benefits all of us.

The links below will help you find documents that will provide detailed information about the bond request. As employees of CMS, we can't advocate – we can't tell folks how to vote. But we can provide information about the bond. I encourage all of you to review the bond information on this site and share it with others who are interested.

The bond request deserves consideration by the voters – and that includes you, our employees. Please take a few minutes to review the information on these pages – and we'll give you updates as needed.

Thank you.
