Welcome
Dear McClintock STEAM Middle School families,

McClintock Middle School is a comprehensive middle school for grades six through eight, with a partial Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) magnet program. The school moved into a new, state-of-the-art facility at the start of the 2013-2014 school year. McClintock has a rich tradition and history in the community of east Charlotte, and enjoys many involved and caring student and faculty alums. The school has a strong faith-based partnership with Christ Lutheran Church, which created McClintock Partners in Education (McPIE). McPIE supports the school and students in a variety of ways. Most visible are the Family Night events held each Tuesday. The community is invited to the weekly events for which transportation is provided and meals are served.  At Family Night, students are invited to attend clubs led by volunteers while parents and younger/older siblings also engage in activities.  McPIE provides funding for various field trips and projects throughout the school. It also provides summer enrichment through a variety of experiences, including a free camp at McClintock that focuses on STEAM concepts.

The STEAM magnet is growing in popularity and demand. The Arts Department is growing and becoming known for the phenomenal musicals produced each year. McClintock has award-winning Robotics, Engineering, and NASCAR Ten80 teams. We are also proud of our championship-winning athletics teams.

I am a native Charlottean and I have spent most of my life in CMS. I am a proud graduate of Dilworth Elementary, Piedmont Middle and Myers Park High. I earned my undergraduate degree at Elon University where I was a North Carolina Teaching Fellow. I also hold a master’s degree from Winthrop University in educational leadership. I began my career as a high school social studies teacher and soccer coach before moving into administration. Prior to moving to McClintock, I served as an assistant principal at Community House Middle.

I look forward to working with our students and families. I believe that every child can succeed in school and I am committed to providing a safe, academically challenging environment for all students.

Thank you for choosing Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and McClintock STEAM Middle School.
