Title IX Lessons

In compliance with the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) directives, CMS has developed age-appropriate lessons for all K-12 students on the following topics:

  • Sexual and gender-based harassment

  • Consequences of sexual and gender-based harassment

  • Steps to take if they or another is being harassed based on sex/gender

  • Encouragement to report such harassment

  • Safe strategies for bystander intervention

All students, unless parent(s)/caregiver(s) opt out their child, must receive instruction on the mandated topics.

Below you will find a link to the Title IX lessons designed by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.  Mr. Carrico and Ms. Burley, our school counselors, will begin hosting class lessons August 31st thru September 21st.  After reviewing the lessons, parents and guardians have the opportunity to sign an "opt-out" form if they do not want their child to participate in the lesson.  The link to the letter can be found below.
