MAP Assessment Support Documents - 9/4/2020Please review the following documents to assist with test administration. The first document was created by CMS and will provide many details about the assessment and answer many questions. You are also encouraged to watch the video linked in the paragraphs below. Beginning September 10th and continuing through the end of the month, K-5 students will be assessed using the MAP Growth Assessment in reading and math. Students in K-3 will also participate in the MAP Reading Fluency Assessment. Students will need to use their assigned CMS device to access the test platforms. Prior to testing, teachers will conduct lessons that include how to access and take the test. Students will view videos and discuss how they can do their best. Each assessment should take no more than one hour. Details about the test will be shared at the Town Hall Meeting hosted by our admin team on September 9th, at 6:00 pm. The most important feature for caregivers to know is that this assessment is adaptive, meaning students will be presented with questions that are challenging and they do not know. Students should make their best guess and move along to the next question. Here is a video which will provide you more details. Parents will be sent information by the teacher about various assessment times available throughout the day. To optimize success for our students, we would like a caregiver present that can support each student with technology. Third - fifth grade students have some experience with taking MAP assessments; however, this will be the first time for our K-2 students so parent/guardian support may be needed during the login process. This assessment will not be used as a grade, but we ask that your child works independently on the screener so we have accurate data to support your child with targeted instruction.
