Research supports the premise that good school attendance is imperative for strong achievement.  When the number of days a child is present increases, his/her school performance is likely to improve. Scholars are expected to be in school except in the event of an emergency or for reasons explained in the codes below.

  • Illness or injury

  • Death in the immediate family

  • CMS approved religious holiday

  • Doctor/dentist appointment

  • Approved education leave (form 5123.21 must be completed & approval obtained from the principal)

  • Court or administrative proceedings

All absences are unexcused until a note is provided.  Unexcused absences include:  inclement weather, car trouble, missing the bus, oversleeping, no written excuse, class cutting and work.

  • When a scholar returns to school after an absence, he/she must bring a note signed by the parent/guardian indicating the reason for the absence.  This note should be turned in to the Attendance Secretary, Emily Kraft in the main office.
  • You can also fax an absence at 980-343-3851.  Attention the note to our Attendance Secretary, Emily Kraft.  All notes should include the student’s first and last name, homeroom teacher and a brief description of the reason for the absence.
  • You can also email an absence.  Please use the link below to report your child's absence and the reason for that absence.  Click here to report an absence.

FYI - You do not need to call in to school on the morning of an absence.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our Attendance Secretary.

Scholars are absent from school are responsible for all work and information missed in each class.  In the case of absences for more than 3 days, assignments may be requested through the teacher.  Assignments for absences of shorter duration will require scholars to contact teachers by email or classmates by telephone.  They may also request work from the individual teachers upon returning to school.

Scholars are tardy if they arrive after 9:15 AM.  Late buses are the exception.  Scholars must have a tardy slip after 9:15 a.m. to be admitted to class.  When they come by the office, they will receive a tardy slip.

Scholars who arrive at school after 9:15 a.m. need to report to the office before reporting to the classroom. Our attendance secretary will record their arrival on a Sign In/Sign Out card and give the late scholar a tardy slip. Scholars will not be admitted to class without a tardy slip.
