 ​​​​WELCOME TO HIGHLAND MILL MONTESSORI

 Overview of the Montessori Classroom:

  •  PreK through 6th grade (8 year program)

  • mutli-age classrooms

  • full time teacher and teacher assistant

  • one-on-one and small group lessons

  • after receiving lessons, students are permitted to choose work 

  • move from working with concrete materials to abstration

Expectations of a Montessori Student:

  • follows multi-step directions

  • focuses on tasks and lessons to completion

  • demonstrates self-control and body control

Summer activities to prepare for next school year:

  • read everyday

  • tell stories

  • play I spy with beginning letter sounds

  • count everything

  • maintain a daily routine

 

For 2017-2018-Staggered Entry

Our PreK students will come to school on a staggered entry schedule. Monday, 8/28 and Tuesday 8/29- no new students will attend. PreK students will come EITHER Wednesday, 8/30 or Thursday, 8/31.  A letter will be sent home during the summer to provide you with the day your child will attend.  ALL PreK students will attend school on Friday, 9/1.
