Thank you for your interest in Harper Middle College High School!  

Eligibility

  • You must apply to the CMS Lottery.
  • You must apply to Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) and obtain a CPCC ID.
  • You must be a rising 11th or 12th grader and a resident of Mecklenburg County.
  • Rising 11th graders - Completion of the following courses by the end of the 10th grade: NC Math I, NC Math I (Algebra I), NC Math II (Geometry), English I, English II, Biology, World History, Civics & Economics, Health/PE
  • Rising 12th graders - Completion of the following courses by the end of the 11th grade: English III, All 10th grade requirements listed above.
  • Qualifying test scores. Click here for Test Scores Info
  • Must have an un-weighted GPA of 2.5 or higher.

The application process is based on your child's current enrollment. 

If your child is currently enrolled in CMS, you should follow the steps indicated in the "Current CMS Student" section. 

If your child not currently enrolled in CMS, you should follow the steps indicated in the "Not Currently Enrolled" section.

Important Information:

Sibling Guarantees: There are no sibling guarantees to Middle College High School Programs.

Application Completion: The following must be completed and submitted by 10:00 pm on the last day for each lottery: 

  1. CPCC Application completed (secure a CPCC ID #)
  2. Harper MCHS Entrance Survey completed (via google)
  3. Qualifying test scores submitted via email to gina.ohare@cms.k12.nc.us.
  4. Application to the CMS Lottery Completed.

School Calendar: Middle College High Schools operate on a school calendar that is aligned to the CPCC academic calendar.  It is different from the CMS calendar.  You can find the Middle College HS calendar on the calendar tab of the CMS website. 

CMS Classes & CPCC Class Schedules: Students take their remaining high school required courses for graduation from 11:20 a.m. until 4:20 p.m.  Students can take their CPCC classes any time they are not taking a high school class.

Afterschool Activities: Middle College High School students are only allowed to participate in athletics, cheerleading and marching band at their home school.
