Welcome from the Principal
Dear Garinger High School families,

Welcome to Garinger High School! We are a diverse school with students and families who represent more than 40 different countries and speak more than 18 different languages in their homes. Our students and families have powerful stories of overcoming challenges to reach success. The richness of diversity of backgrounds and talents on our campus allows our students to experience learning in a uniquely global environment each day. Garinger is one of the oldest high schools in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. It has rich traditions and a strong reputation for excellence in politics, music, business and the arts from proud Garinger alumni.

As we look to build on these traditions, I am counting on the support and involvement of parents, students and community members in our quest for high student achievement at Garinger High School. Our school’s mission is to prepare, empower and expect every student to be productive and successful citizens in the future global economy. I am excited about the great works our students will do and I am proud to be on this journey with the families of Garinger High School.

At our school, we are constantly setting higher goals for ourselves and our students. For the last four years our students have exceeded expected growth on state End-of-Course assessments. In fact, Garinger students had the highest growth index of any CMS school for the 2017-2018 school year. We are proud of the strides our students, staff and parents are taking to strengthen the academic and student cultures at Garinger High School.

To fully sustain our progress, we need the continued support of parents and community members. I invite you to participate in our school community as often as you can. Please remember to register as a CMS volunteer. All volunteers must register each year and select Garinger as the site. Please also remember to bring your ID to sign in upon entering the school as we are working diligently to keep our school safe.

Let me tell you a little about me. I hold a bachelor’s degree in sociology/social studies education from Winthrop University and a master’s degree in school administration from Queens University. Before becoming principal at Garinger, I served as an interim principal here and at Winterfield Elementary School. I have also been an assistant principal at Garinger, Mallard Creek High School and North Rowan High (Rowan-Salisbury Schools) and a dean of students at Mallard Creek High School.

I am truly humbled to be chosen to lead Garinger High School as its principal. My heart leaps with joy when I think about the students, families and staff I have the privilege to serve each day. I look forward to working with you and your student. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have issues or concerns: or (980) 343-6450

Thank you for choosing Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and Garinger High.
