Dear Endhaven Elementary families,
Welcome to Endhaven Elementary School! We are a neighborhood school located in South Charlotte. All of us at Endhaven believe that it is our responsibility to provide students with a strong foundation in literacy and math, implement differentiated learning across all disciplines and enhance 21st-century skills to prepare students for a global society. We offer a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) so that students can become effective communicators, collaborators, critical thinkers, and creators.
At our school, we are building each year on a tradition of excellence and academic success, setting higher goals for our students and ourselves. Our STEM focus provides a variety of programs, such as a full, hands-on science lab, an outdoor classroom with multiple gardens and a computer lab where diverse technology skills are taught across multiple devices at each grade level such as iPads, Chromebooks and SmartBoards.
At Endhaven we also provide a number of clubs before and after school, such as Girls in Engineering, Math and Science (GEMS) Club, Mathapalooza, Mad Science, Chess Club, Harmony Club, Piano/Guitar Club, Girls on the Run, Let Me Run, Soccer Shots and Little Sticks.
I invite you to participate in our school community as often as you can. Please remember to register as a CMS volunteer. All volunteers must register each year and select Endhaven as the site. Please also remember to bring your ID to sign in upon entering the school, as we are working diligently to keep our school safe.
Let me tell you a little about myself. I have been in education for 22 years, all of it in elementary settings. I earned my bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY. I also have a master’s degree in special education from the University of North Carolina Charlotte, as well as certification in school administration.
I started as a literacy teacher for K-6 in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. After meeting and marrying my wife, Katie, we decided to spend some time teaching overseas on a military base in Germany. After our first child was born, we moved back to Charlotte. I returned to CMS, taught fifth grade for two years, then moved into administration. I am committed to working with all of our stakeholders, including students, families, staff and the community. I am especially passionate about working with our classroom teachers to share best practices and strengthen teaching and learning.
I believe that students today must learn 21st-century skills in order to be successful in life. Endhaven Elementary provides all students the opportunity to learn those skills.
Thank you for choosing Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and Endhaven Elementary.
