Frequently Asked Questions

Opening of School 2020

When do my children attend during the first two weeks of school?

All students enrolled in plan B+ will be assigned a 3 or 4 day Orientation.

Group A attends 8/17 - 8/19.

Group B attends 8/20 - 8/25.

Group C attends 8/26-8/28.

Full remote learning begins 8/31. It will continue until the CMS Board of Education has determined we can safely be back in school.

We will mail out what your assigned group/days are in early August.

What is the purpose of the Orientation days?

These days serve multiple important purposes!

● Your child and their teacher will begin building relationships!

● Your child's teacher will teach them how to best use their device and how to learn online.

● This time will also prepare your student for when we can (hopefully) return to in-person learning.

What if I only want my child to have remote learning?Parents can choose full remote learning from the first day of school. This choice keeps your child in full remote learning until the end of the first semester (Dec. 21). They will still be Eastover students taught by certified teachers. Unlike the B+ plan, if the CMS Board of Education sends students back to the school building, your child continues remote learning through Dec. 21.
Will my child be required to wear a mask?Yes, the Governor has mandated masks for all staff and students in school and on the bus.

Will my child get a device/technology?

Yes! CMS is purchasing iPads for our K-2 students. Students in grades 3-5 will use Chromebooks. We will send further

information home about signing out the device in August.

Will my child use their CMS device on their Orientation days?Yes! We will teach them how to use it for online learning, reading books online, and more.
What procedures will be in place to screen staff and students for when they come into the building those first two weeks?

Staff will provide a screening for each student coming into the building, including taking temperatures with a no-contact thermometer.

All Eastover staff will be screened including taking temperatures with a no-contact thermometer each day.

Will visitors be allowed into the building?

Not at this time. Visitors will be met at the front entrance and will remain outside.  Front office staff will support visitors with any business.  For emergencies, please call the school at 980-343-5505 and a staff member will support you over the phone.

When available, we will provide curbside service as needed; you will pull up, call the school, and we will come assist you.

More information will be available soon!

Will I be able to walk in my kindergartener on the first day?Due to the limitation of all outside visitors, parents/family members will walk their kindergarteners up to the Auditorium for drop off.  Pictures can be taken out front.  Our Kindergarten team will be reaching out with their ideas to make sure you can "see" this special memory!
What happens if a student/staff member tests positive?Great question! We are awaiting specific guidelines and we will share them as soon  as possible with our families.
Are you revising procedures for school, bus, etc.?Yes! We are updating these to ensure we are keeping all students and staff as safe as possible.
How can I help?

Please keep your child home if they exhibit any symptoms, such as fever, chills, coughing, or difficulty breathing.

Please, DO NOT give your child Ibuprofen or Tylenol and then send them to school. If they are sick, they can get others sick, even if you medicate them.
