Rick Parker.JPGWeekly Update: Friday Update 11-19-21

Good evening, this is Rick Parker, Principal of East Mecklenburg High School, calling with our Friday Weekly Update. Next week we have only two days before our Thanksgiving Break. Let’s bring our “A-game” those two days and work hard!

Congratulations to our JROTC Air Force Unit who continues to bring home top awards! They were crowned the CMS JROTC Book Study Area Champions SY 2021-22 winning their Area 1 region. East Meck will represent area 1 well in the finals which will be held on Dec. 7 at 9:30 am at Mallard Creek media center.

Attention seniors! The last day to turn in senior quotes is coming up! The deadline is Tuesday November 23 at 11:59! Go to to turn yours in!

The Marching Band is having their annual fruit sale and would love your support. They have extended their sale through next Friday, November 19th. You can have your order shipped to the school for no cost. We expect orders to come in on the afternoon of December 3 and can be picked up that evening or during the day on Saturday December 4th. Customers can also ship their orders directly to their home for $7.95 per box. The website is below and email if you have any questions.

Need assistance with career planning? East Meck will be offering the ASVAB Career Exploration Program (CEP) for high school students on December 10th. The ASVAB is a free aptitude test and comprehensive career exploration resource that helps teens determine their skills and interests and find careers that align with them. If you are considering a career in the military the ASVAB is necessary for career planning, if not it's still great information to assist you in finding careers and all postsecondary options. Please email Ms. McGraw, the Career Development Coordinator at if interested.

Students that are interested in attending the Naval Academy, one of our former students, Daniel Rowe, will be on campus Tuesday, the 23rd to speak with students about the steps needed to apply to the Naval Academy as well as day-to- day activities/lifestyle of academy education. Please see Ms. McGraw in the Career Center for a pass.

I leave you with this quote, “The only place that success comes before work is in the dictionary!” HARD WORK BETRAYS NONE!

Have a great weekend!
