Kindergarten Registration and/or New to Cornelius Registration:
With the end of the 2020-2021 school year approaching, we are excited to begin the registration process for our rising kindergarten students. Now is the time to begin the process of registering your child for kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year. Completing this process as soon as possible helps us plan for the fall as well as ensures that a CMS bus will be assigned to your child by the first day of school.
The same process will be used for all new students planning to enroll in Cornelius Elementary for the 21-22 school year. We have placed a bin with enrollment packets outside the school’s front door so parents can swing by and pick up one. Enrollment packets are also available here:

-Scan the completed enrollment packet and ALL required documents and email to our senior administrative secretary, Cathy Swiney, at cathleenc.swiney@cms.k12.nc.us.
-If you have any questions or need assistance, please call 980-343-3905, or email cathleenc.swiney@cms.k12.nc.us.
We are excited to see all of our new Cornelius Cougars in the fall!

CMS Early Release Dates 2020-2021
Cornelius will dismiss at 12:45 PM on the above dates.
Buses will still take students home, they will leave our school around 1:00 PM and students will get to the drop off approximately three hours before their normal time. Lunch and breakfast will still be served, but lunch will be served earlier than normal.
Volunteering
If you are interested in volunteering at our school, please visit www.cmsvolunteers.com to register as a volunteer with CMS. May we suggest speaking with your child's teacher for various opportunities to participate. There is a link to your left for the Cornelius Elementary School PTO, where thare are many volunteer listings as well.
Charlotte Mecklenburg Handbooks, Forms, and Notices
Again this year, the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook, all CMS required forms, and the Parent-Student Handbook will only be available online. The move to online forms will save the district printing, processing and shipping costs. It also aligns with CMS' efforts to conserve resources and limit paper use.
Click here to access all the back to school forms you will need from CMS. Forms at this link include the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook (which is also known as the Student Code of Conduct), the Parent-Student Handbook, and the CMS Forms and Notices Handbook.

Cafeteria
Due to growing safety and allergy concerns, we allow parents to have lunch with only their child at our parent lunch table.
