Family Engagement Survey FAQ
What is the Family Engagement Survey?
It is a 5-10 minute survey exploring parent perceptions of:
Student and family support
Student safety
Communication between schools and families
Responsiveness to concerns
Opportunities to engage in the school such as
Access to resources (curriculum, mental health supports, etc.)
Online engagement and support
Why are we doing a family engagement survey?
We know that strong relationships between families and their schools are proven to be a critical driver of student achievement. We strengthen these relationships by being responsive to the needs of our stakeholders -- especially families. By understanding their perceptions and needs, our school and the district can best address their concerns.
When is the survey?
The survey will be open from February 7th through February 25th. If we do not have sufficient participation we may extend the survey deadline.
How can families find the survey?
The survey is available at https://bit.ly/CMS-Family-Survey. Families can access this link:
On a banner on the CMS homepage,
On a button on your school’s web page, and
Using the QR code on flyers. We will provide schools with 50 flyers. You can access the file to print more flyers at https://bit.ly/SurveyFlyers.
What information do parents need to participate in the survey?
They need their child’s Student ID. We have advised parents to look for the student ID on their child’s report card, CMS email address or Canvas login. They may call the office if they are unable to locate the student ID.
If siblings attend the same school the family only has to complete one survey. It does not matter which sibling’s student ID is used. However, when siblings attend different schools, one survey will be needed per school.
