Winget Park Community,
I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to serve you as the next principal of Winget Park Elementary! As we transition to the 2017-2018 school year, I look forward to getting to know each of you in addition to each of our students. I also look foward to collaborating with you to continue providing our students with an excellent education that meets the unique needs of each of our students.
As we embark on the next chapter for Winget Park Elementary School, I want to share more about who I am as an educator, leader, and person. A native of Upstate NY, I received my Bachelor’s degree in Adolescent Education at Fredonia State, my Master’s degree in Adolescent Education at Oneonta State, and an Advanced Certificate in Leadership from Binghamton University. I spent 10 years as a social studies and special education teacher, also coaching baseball and basketball at the middle school and high school levels. Seeking the opportunity to move my leadership outside the classroom and playing fields, I was given the opportunity to become part of New Leaders in Charlotte, where I spent a year as a Resident Principal learning from a successful school leader. For the past three years, I have had the opportunity to serve as the Assistant Principal at Shamrock Gardens Elementary.
My most important roles in life are as a husband to my wife, Kari, who is a Physician Assistant at Novant Health Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics, and a father to my son, Lincoln, a precocious soon to be 4-year-old. Kari and I enjoy spending time as a family (which includes our dog, Oliver, and our fish, Blue), especially at the wonderful parks throughout Charlotte and Mecklenburg County.
As principal of Winget Park Elementary, please know that I am committed to working with each of you to craft, refine, and implement a shared vision and plan for continued innovation. We will continue to build on the many successes already experienced and construct a strong culture of teaching and learning that is focused on our core actions—Uniting, Creating, and Innovating.
I look forward to getting to know each of you as we approach the 2017-2018 school year. Please feel free to contact me via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or phone (980-343-1063) at any time. I will also be scheduling meetings for anyone who is interested in sharing more about their experiences at Winget Park and their vision for our future. You can sign up for a meeting time by contacting me at one of the methods listed above, or by visiting bit.ly/mohrien.
