Winding Springs Elementary…

  • Is located in the General’s Point neighborhood located off of Gibbon Road, right near the Metrolina Expo

  • Serves approximately 850 children, Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade

  • Provides a learning community designed to promote strong academic and leadership qualities in all students

  • Has a diverse teaching staff, including veterans, new teachers, and staff from the Visiting International Faculty and Education Partners International programs

  • Is actively seeking to develop a Parent Teacher Association and expand our community partnerships

  • Believes in the importance of technology literate students, with SmartBoards, classroom computers, a technology lab, media lab, and iPad carts available for teaching and learning

  • Tailors the education process to the meet the needs of individual students based on the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, which includes the: 

Common Core and Essential Standards

  1. Utilizes a balanced literacy approach to develop strong reading and writing skills

  2. Math Investigations curriculum focused on exploration and problem-solving

  3. Special Area classes, including Technology, Media, Art, Music, Physical

  4. Education, Science Lab and Enhanced literacy learning through Dance
