 University Meadows, University Bound!

As you have heard in every one of my Sunday evening phone calls, we are University Meadows, University Bound! For every student that enters our door, from the age of 4 years old in our Pre K program to the age of 11 years old leaving us as 5th graders, our mission is to ensure every action we take is pushing our students on that University Bound track.

Let me say it again: Our MISSION is to ensure EVERY action we take is pushing our students on the UNIVERSITY BOUND track. And, as parents, we are working hard to ensure that it is the university of their choice and with the options of academic scholarships!

How do you support this? It begins at the very young age--modeling reading for fun and talking about life goals. Certainly, at the age of 4 or 5 years old, students are not yet locking in stone the career choice of their future. After all, when my daughter drew a picture in kindergarten of what she wanted to be when she grew up, she drew a princess! While daddy certainly appreciates it, I also understand that it isn't the career choice that is important--it's having a goal.

Our students must understand that every day they enter our building, they do so to walk closer to their life goal. As the adult support system, we must be here to guide them as they change life goals over the years. Our role is critical because, as the target may change--my daughter now wants to be a teacher--we keep them goal oriented with a sense of purpose when going to school, the options will not be limited.

We work so that each of our children will have the luxury of choice, so that when they do finally determine what their fit will be in their adult phase of life, the choices they made as a child will not have limited their options!
