Greetings Steele Creek Family,

I am very excited about the upcoming school year and about continuing the journey of ensuring that all of our students are successful in the area of academics, social emotional relationships with others, and developing strategies that will support them in life.  Our goal is to address the objectives of the Strategic Plan of 2018:  To provide a personalized environment of academic excellence that prepares every child, every day, for a better tomorrow. The secondary goal is to enhance the cultural awareness of our scholars and to celebrate the diversity of all scholars that attend Steele Creek which consists of 30 countries and 18 different languages.

In order for our school year to be successful, there are a few important steps that must occur:

Please take the time to review the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools Student Code of Conduct Handbook online at www.cms.k12.nc.us  and both you and your child sign the acknowledgement document in your back to school packet.  In your discussion focus on all areas but especially the following: classroom expectations, school and bus conduct, bullying, technology use at school and home, and cell phone policies.

Regular school attendance and refraining from late arrivals and early dismissals are vital for instructional success.  Plan appointments after school if possible and plan family vacations within the school breaks.  Written notes should be provided whenever your child is absent.  The attendance policy is closely monitored and reported as aligned with the State policy.

Maintain up-to-date and accurate student and parent/guardian information in the office and on the emergency blue card.  This information includes phone numbers, emails, emergency contacts, custodial court documents, and persons who can dismiss your child from school.  All persons who are permitted access to your child should be noted on the blue card and must provide a picture identification for release.

Volunteering is a key component to every school.  In order to volunteer in the classrooms, field trips, and student enrichment clubs, a volunteer registration form must be completed online on our school web page or online at www.cms.k12.nc.us.  The school will notify the status of your background check and the level clearance of volunteer opportunities.  All visitors must also provide ID in the Lobby Guard System to enter and exit campus.

Thank you for partnering with us to ensure a strong instructional and safe learning environment.
