This year, CMS is using a national norm-referenced test as a diagnostic tool to help teachers customize instruction on a timely basis. The assessment is called Measures of Academic Progress (MAP). Assessing a student at the beginning of the year helps us determine your child’s instructional level so our teachers can tailor instruction to your child’s areas of strength and support his/her learning. We assess students in reading and math and each session generally takes less than an hour. We have now completed the fall assessments and your child’s MAP data will be available as part of first quarter conferences.
