Mrs. Leah Davis is Ridge Road's new Principal. We are excited to have her join us as a Raven!
Ms. Tomica Wright - Assistant Principal, 8th Grade
Tomica Wright, a North Carolina Teaching Fellow, received her undergraduate degree in Business Education at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in her hometown of Greensboro. While completing her undergraduate studies in Education, Tomica applied and was awarded the opportunity to travel abroad to complete her student teaching experience at Mannheim American High School in Mannheim, Germany. Tomica spent several months on an army base teaching students of American soldiers and US service men. While in Germany, she also visited France, Switzerland, and Spain.
Tomica began her teaching career in the Guilford County School System where she taught middle school business and computer subjects in High Point. Two years later she moved to Charlotte, North Carolina where she currently resides. Her experiences working in Title I schools both in Guilford County and Mecklenburg County inspired her to work with students in a different capacity and she decided to pursue the field of School Counseling after 4 years of teaching. Tomica completed her graduate studies in School Counseling at Wake Forest University in 2006. With now over 13 years of experience in education and an additional degree later earned in School Administration from Queens University, Tomica currently holds a position as Assistant Principal at Ridge Road Middle School.
When time permits, Tomica works as an online practitioner through Wake Forest University. She loves running and hiking in the park. She has participated in over 10 local fundraising 5Ks to support the community. She is part of a cooking club and loves trying out new recipes.
Mr. Jared Thompson - Dean of Students, 6th Grade
Jared Thompson is the current Dean of Students/6th Grade Administrator at Ridge Road Middle, a Charlotte-Mecklenburg School. He graduated as a student-athlete and North Carolina Teaching Fellow from Lenoir-Rhyne University, and in 2016 completed his Master of Arts in Executive Leadership Studies (K-12 School Administration) at Gardner-Webb University. Prior to graduating from Lenoir-Rhyne, Mr. Thompson was a student-athlete at Elon University for two years before transferring. He is now pursuing his doctorate in Educational Leadership (Ed.D) from Gardner-Webb University. Prior to joining the Raven family he was a teacher and principal intern at Westerly Hills Academy in the West Learning Community.
Being raised in a family of teachers in nearby Statesville, Mr. Thompson’s energetic passion continues to be public education. He values the importance of keeping up-to-date with current literature on best practices, which is imperative to provide the best learning experience possible. In his spare time, Mr. Thompson enjoys exploring the Carolina's, playing golf, reading, fishing, hunting, and watching football.
