Dear Parents & Families,
Happy Fall! At Rama Road, we are off to a smooth and positive start to what we know will be a successful academic year for our learners. Thank you to everyone for your efforts to support the launch of the new school year.
The House System is new this year at RRES and already in full swing. The House System is intended to build relationships across classes, the school, student-to-student, student-with-teacher and teacher-to-teacher. We have four houses at Rama: Tharpe House (yellow), Latimer House (red), Ride House (green), Galileo House (navy). With the recent weather days off from school due to a hurricane, the first House Assembly will be held on Friday, October 5. At these assemblies, all classes that belong to each house will meet to celebrate by singing their house cheer/chant, recognition of student leaders and celebrating points that were earned across the school by each class. Students are invited on House Assembly Days to wear their Rama House Color shirt with a uniform bottom.
Houses will "compete" for total number of points each month. Points can be earned by students simply by being responsible in the hallways; having good attendance; demonstrating kindness toward others; and high levels of engagement in their learning with their classmates in special area classes. Service learning will also play a role in each house as we move into the school year. When you stop by the school, please be sure to look in the hallways outside of each class for their House Color Flag.
It's going to be a great year at Rama Road!
