Oakdale has adopted a new positive behavior support system called S.O.A.R.
In conjuction with our S.O.A.R initiative, teachers are implementing one of two behavioral management tools: Class Dojo and Oakdale Clip Chart. Here's how they each work:
*CLASS DOJO is a web-based program which allows teachers to track students' behavior. Based on a points system; students will earn or lose points determined by their behavior. For example, points will be given to students who are on task, being respectful and participating. Likewise, points will be taken away from students who are off task, talking out or unprepared.
For students, they will have an access code so that they track their classroom performance and how many point they have earned.
For parents, teachers can email a "behavior and skills report" to notify you of your child's behavior status.
Teachers who opt to use Class Dojo will provide both the student and parent access codes to you.
OAKDALE CLIP CHART is a classroom chart system that measures students behaviors based on five levels: Eagle Pride, Outstanding, Ready-To-Learn, Teacher's Choice and Parent Contact. Each morning, all students begin on the same level: Ready-To-Learn. As the day progress, students will get clipped up or clipped down depending on their behavior. Eagle Pride and Outstanding indicates good behavior, while Teacher's Choice and Parent Contact indicates negative behavior.
If you're unsure which behavior management tool is being utilized in your child's class, please contact their teacher.
