Today 630 students attend Kindergarten through Fifth grades at Oakdale. The school has a rich history that began in 1904 with a one-room schoolhouse. In 1908 the school grew to three rooms. Nineteen years later a Parent Teacher Association was organized.
In 1928 a new school was built to accommodate a growing student population. The school stood until 1952 when fire swept through most of the structure. In 1953 the school was rebuilt and stood on the same spot for 51 years. In 2002 district voters passed a referendum on new school construction that included Oakdale. Construction and renovation of a 1992 wing created the new Oakdale that was rededicated in September 2006.
