Digital Citizenship @ NWSA

Digital Citizenship Vision for NWSA
Students at Nor thwest School of the Arts will become responsible digital citizens who know how to use the digital media in a 24/7 connected world, safely, effectively, ethically, and respectfully. To accomplish this goal, each year, students in grades 6-12 will receive 3+ hours of instruction, using resources from Common Sense Media, on how to become a responsible digital citizen in today’s world. (Adapted from Tippen Elementary)

November 2, 2016
This year, our Close Reading Day on 11/2/16 will be paired with our first Pro-Caring Day of the school year and students will focus on Digital Citizenship. Students will use close reading strategies to interact with materials on different aspects of digital citizenship in each of their four class periods. Along with conducting academic conversations on the materials, they will also complete a digital citizenship course provided by the school district in Canvas. Once they complete the coursework, they will then engage with supplemental online material provided by Common Sense MediaDigital Compass (Middle School) and Digital Bytes (High School).
