Greetings Northridge Middle School of Computer Science and Coding family.
We are very excited about the 2018-2019 school year! Our school has added so many new opportunities for our scholars and staff to continue growing as life-long learners. We are proud to add the coding magnet, Computational Thinking model, Personalized Based Learning and many new faces.
The 2018-2019 school year holds so many great possibilities for the students and staff at Northridge Middle. We are a D.T.S. school, Data-Driven, Tech Savvy and Student Centered. It is our belief that providing data driven instruction, mixed with very interactive technology opportunities for every student and focusing on personalized instruction for all scholars is a recipe for success. Our staff is dedicated to holding each other and all of our scholars to high expectations. Therefore, we INSPECT what we EXPECT every day. This is evident through progress monitoring, teacher/student conferences, "Success Time"- our daily intervention block, daily small grouping during each content block and providing tiered instruction to meet each scholars needs. Our day also consist of accelerating students beyond the core curriculum by providing extension activities. At Northridge we are, "ALL IN". Every staff member, teacher, parent and community partner is unified together making education a top priority, which will produce success for all scholars. Our administration and staff has an open door policy. If for any reason you need to contact us, please call our office at 980-343-5015. We also are seeking volunteers for our school. You may contact our office for additional information. Thank you for visiting our webpage and you are always welcome to visit our educational facility.
With Children First,
Vincent G. Golden, Principal
There are a few things to remember this year:
When students get off of the bus or arrive on campus, they are to go to breakfast or homeroom. Breakfast is free for every child. Students that cannot behave in the cafeteria during breakfast will eat breakfast in another location in the school.
School starts at 8:00. All late students must sign-in in the front office.
Bus behavior has to improve. Students that do not improve their behaviors on the bus maybe removed from the bus for an extended period of time.
Students are to let an adult know when they are having a problem in school. Do not take matters in your own hands.
Parents, please monitor Facebook, Twitter, Vine and text messages. This will stop many problems from taking place at school.
Electronic devices, shoes and clothes are to be locked in a locker or stored away for safety. These items are the responsibility of the students and not Northridge Middle School.
Let's continue to have a good school year and a renewed school spirit for the New Year!
Bus Safety: Parents, I need your help with our buses and getting students home safely. We are having a large number of bus incidents. I met with all of the bus drivers for our school today along with the transportation specialist. There were several concerns raised about the behaviors on the school bus. As of today, we have processed 135 student bus referrals for misconduct. We have to reduce the misbehaviors on the bus immediately. Please speak with your child about bus behaviors so that all students are safe on the bus and get home safely. This is a very serious concern and your help is seriously needed.
Student ID Badges: Your child should have given you a flyer in reference to the pictures and price. On Wednesday, we will give every child a school ID Badge. Please make sure that your child keeps up with their personal ID Badge. We have limited capabilities to make several additional badges. Students that looses their badges will be given a colored sticker to wear with their name written on it.
Parents, we certainly value you visiting our school and following up on your child's educational experiences. However, because of some recent incidents and my overall concern for everyone in our school, parents will need to make an appointment with classroom teachers for conferences. Parents will not be allowed to visit classrooms during instruction. This decision has been made for the safety of all children, staff members and parents. Please contact the teacher, counselor or grade level administrator if you would like to schedule a parent conference. I really appreciate your understanding of this decision.
We are looking for volunteers to support our school and students. Please contact our school secretary, Ms. Branch and share your skills and ways in which you would like to volunteer. Right now, we need some work done in our courtyard, classroom volunteers to help with small teacher tasks and parents to assist with morning carpool.
Thank you for your support of Northridge Middle School.
