The State of North Carolina has adopted the Common Core State Standards and N.C. Essential Standards to provide a deeper, more rigorous learning experience for students. The standards create a foundation to work collaboratively across states and districts, pooling resources and expertise, to create curricular tools, professional development, common assessments, and other instructional materials. The goal is to establish a uniform set of expectations for what students will learn no matter where they attend school and to ensure that students are ready for college and careers after high school graduation.
Charlotte Mecklenburg County's teachers and academic staff work together to provide consistent, thorough instruction across our school system.
The following are sites that will provide detailed information on each standard.
