Dear Families and Students,
Welcome back to the 2012 – 2013 school year at Montclaire Elementary School! We have been busy over the summer preparing for this school year and revising our instructional approach to ensure that our students receive a great education. I am very excited about this school year and I look forward to working with each of you to maximize your child’s learning and success during the school year!
I would be remiss if I did not take a moment before the school year begins to reinforce the important role that parents, guardians, and other family members play in their child’s academic achievement. As a parent you play the vital role of establishing routines that will help your child be successful at school throughout the year. Implementing a clear bed time, a scheduled homework and evening reading time, and a morning routine all will help your child receive the adequate guidance they will need to be well rested and prepared for the instructional day.
Parents you also play a critical role in making sure your child arrives to school on time and is in attendance at school each day of the year. Listed below are a few things that we are doing this school year to encourage school attendance:
1. Individual student incentives for monthly perfect attendance.
2. Monthly classroom incentives for the class with the highest attendance rate each month.
3. A certificate for students with no later arrivals during each quarter.
4. Students will not be dismissed from school in the afternoons between 2:15
and 2:45. If your child needs to be dismissed early please do so prior to 2:15.
We are very excited to let you know that all students in 1st – 5th Grades will receive a book bag through the generous donation of one of our community partners on August 29, 2012. Students will also receive a small set of school supplies as well! Please work with your child to have them make a small thank you note that we can send as a token of appreciation for this wonderful gift!
Thank you for allowing us to work with your child during the 2012-2013 school year! We are excited to have you and your child as a part of the Montclaire Family. Please come to our Meet the Teacher Night on August 23 between 5:00 – 6:30 and our Title I Meeting and Curriculum Night on September 13 between 5:30 – 7:00.
