Curriculum night.jpg

Marie G. Davis will be hosting its first K-8 Curriculum Night – Literacy Make and Take October 17, from 6:15 to 7:15!  We strongly recommend parent participation in this evening as it will give you strategies for reading comprehension that extend from the classroom.

Please know we need your partnership in your child's education and we look forward to your participation, we will be giving a pizza party to the Homeroom who has the most parent participation!

Parent University session held on October 17

Can We Talk? A Guide to Effective Parent-Teacher Conferences
In this session, we will explore how to make the most of your conference experience by providing tips on preparing for the conversation, getting your questions answered, sharing information about your child, and building a relationship with your child’s teacher that lasts throughout the school year.

Children's National Theatre Kilowatt Kitchen Grades K-2

Kilowatt Kitchen is set to visit our school on 10/18/2017. This program is designed to help our students save energy through a fun educational experience—and we know our students will have a blast at the show.

But we have an important goal in mind: we intend to save 10 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy this school year. That may seem like a lofty goal – but we've done it before with the help of participating schools, and we intend to do it again!

To achieve this goal, every family at our school can request a FREE energy efficiency kit for their home from Duke Energy. When your families and staff request and use these kits in their homes, energy is saved – and we can measure it.

We invite our school to take the My Energy Kit Challenge:
save 20,000 kWh by reaching 100 kit requests.
Every school that meets the challenge will automatically win $250.

Plus, your school will earn another $250 for every additional 100 kit requests. And, in December 2017, the school that has requested the MOST kits will win the grand prize of $2,500.

To request your FREE kit and credit your school:

5-8 Global Studies Program

A full Global Studies Program is offered at MGD for grades 5-8. MGD provides a challenging academic program that fosters the acquisition of global concepts. Because globalization has changed every career field path, every career field path needs graduates who understand globalization. Students in this program develop global competency knowledge and skills that help them cross disciplinary domains to comprehend global events and respond to them effectively.

Our students will obtain a strong foundation in global affairs, engage in problem-solving across boundaries, evaluate information from a comparative perspective, and communicate effectively to defend complex views before a variety of global audiences.

MGD is a uniform school

Please visit About our School tab to learn more information regarding our uniform requirements.
