November 19, 2018

Title IX- Ms. Artis explained that whenever a teacher, scholar, or parent brings an allegation, the allegations are investigated. We are still continuing to educate our scholars on what appropriate behaviors looks like in the school community. To date, there have been two reported incidents.

AM Carpool- Mrs. Williams advised the group that we do not have consistent coverage. The police department serves on a voluntary basis. Mrs. Williams asked for ideas to support the AM carpool. Mrs. Williams will create a volunteer signup list for parents/community members to support us.

School counselor position- We are back to the starting point for a new counselor. Mrs. Williams will continue to set up interviews and is searching for someone with experience.

New business- Parent University’s first session will be on “Bullying”. The next topic will teach parents how to partner with the school. Mrs. Estell is looking to conduct a Math Parent Night soon to support our families with Math at home.

What is the School Leadership Team?

The School Leadership Team (SLT) encourages, supports and creates opportunities for parents to get involved with their children's school.   The SLT is composed of school administrators, teachers and parents.  The SLT develops the School Improvement Plan (SIP) which is the unique plan that focuses the school on its' strengths, challenges, goals, and plan of action. The SLT meets monthly to report progress towards established yearly goals.

What does the SLT do?

The SLT facilitates the involvement of the school community in the development of the School Improvement Plan. The team also monitors the effectiveness of the School Improvement Plan strategies.

Why should I get involved with the SLT?

Becoming a member of the SLT is a wonderful way to participate in your child's education. Several research students have proven that parent involvement is directly linked to student success. Join the SLT at Barnette Elementary School and help share your child's educational experience.
