The Scholastic Art Competition 2018
in 1923, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are the nation’s largest,
longest-running, most prestigious visual and literary arts program recognizing
creative accomplishments of students in grades 7–12. It is a symbol of
excellence that can bolster resumes, college applications, and scholarship
applications. All National Medalists earn a place on the National Medalist
recipient list. Selected works will be featured in the National Catalog, The Best Teen Writing anthology, and the Art.Write.Now exhibition program.
The Scholastic art competition begins at the regional level. Gold key winners go on to compete at the National level! Gold key art will be displayed at Spirit Square. Silver key art will be displayed at the Mint Museum. Stay tuned: National winners will be announced March 13, 2018!

Mint Museum Trip 2017
We had an amazing time touring the Mint Museum, learning how artists utilize STEM concepts in the creation of their work.
Kids Cook with Heart
Kids Cook with Heart culinary program provided our middle school students with key skills to grow into healthy adults. Kids Cook with Heart is designed to foster life skills in advocacy, leadership, responsibility and teamwork while promoting healthy lifestyles for youth.
Scholastc Art & Writing Award
We are pleased to announce that Makayla Forde, an 8th grade student at Morehead STEM Academy, has earned national recognition in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards of 2017. She has been identified by panels of creative professionals as one of the most talented young artists in the nation. This year, more than 330,000 works of art and writing were submitted. Less than 1% were recognized at the national level. Students were invited to attend a ceremony at the world-famous Carnegie Hall on Thursday, June 8. Congratulations Makayla, Morehead STEM is very proud of you!
