"Tucked in the neighborhood of Huntingtowne Farms, our school was established in 1964 and continues to grow and flourish with a student population about 930 students.
As an International Baccalaureate (IB School), our school strives to provide students with a highly rigorous education. We have a diverse student body of children from countries around the world including our own backyard of the neighborhoods of Huntingtowne Farms, Starmount and Old Pineville Road Corridor.
Our faculty and staff embody a culture of high expectations, effective teaching and commitment to the concept of “Whatever It Takes.” As an IB school, our instructional focus blends the IB Units of Study along with the NC Standard Course of Study and newly launched Common Core Curriculum. Uniquely, our elementary school students take Spanish.
The physical space at HTFE was recently renovated with particularly large classrooms, further establishing an environment to encourage learning. Our campus offers an outdoor classroom and nature trail with a stream that cuts through the natural area. Three playgrounds, a gravel athletic track, picnic tables, bird feeders and mature trees further accent a climate that is ripe with opportunities for student learning. Our strongly rooted Parent Teacher Association supports teaching and learning through fundraising drives and providing mini-grants for teachers to encourage creative teaching and thinking out of the box."
