Thank you for visiting the Hawk Ridge Elementary website. I and my staff are extremely proud of the opportunities that we provide our students with everyday.
In the fall of 2008, a School Quality Review was undertaken at Hawk Ridge Elementary. This review evaluated six facets of our school: achievement, curriculum, learning and teaching, leadership and management, learning environment and parental and community involvement. I am proud to report that Hawk Ridge received the highest possible ranking of High Quality. This ranking was certainly validated by our students’ performance in the 2009-2010 school year.
Our composite score on the End-of-Grade tests was an impressive 96.8 percent. We have been given the designation of Honor School of Excellence and also made Adequate Yearly Progress, the standard set for schools by the No Child Left Behind Act, by meeting all of our targets.
The Hawk Ridge faculty is dedicated to our students and works to do whatever it takes to ensure individual student success. Every day, our teachers depend on pre-assessment and formative assessment data to determine tiers of instruction within each objective. Our instructional assistants work throughout the building teaching small groups to support both the learners who are in need and students needing enrichment. We currently have 49 certified staff, including administrative personnel. Of those, 42 percent are National Board-certified, 46 percent have master’s degrees and all are highly qualified professional educators.
Our students enjoy the opportunity to be in one of our various school and parent sponsored clubs such as Chess, Drama, Student Council, Media, Movie Making, Sports Broadcasting, Fishing, Cake Decorating, Speech, Environmental, Math Olympiad, Girls on the Run, Garden Club, Instrumentation Club, Chorus, Reader’s Theater, Red Cross, and Safety Patrol.
The Hawk Ridge community is very supportive of the school. The PTA and School Leadership Team work with the staff to make Hawk Ridge a holistic learning environment. Last year, more than $30,000 was raised to purchase Smart Boards (interactive white boards), and parent participation was outstanding among our many volunteer opportunities and at our Science Fair, Night of the Arts, Multicultural Celebration, Hawk Fest and Bon Voyage Night.
As we continue to refine our successful initiatives, we look forward to inspiring the possibilities for our school community.
