Cotswold has access to all AR tests! We have switched from a local server to a web server for our Accelerated reader program and students may access over 100,000 quizzes.
Accelerated Reader is a reading program that is used to motivate students to read. Students are taught how to select specific books from the library to read. Once the book is read, students login to a school computer and take a test on the book to earn points.
Books are labeled and given a point value by the AR (Accelerated Reader) program. Students earn points based on the how well they scored on the test.
Students are also able to check books out of the public library. Use the links below to see our AR book list.
Your child's teacher determines your child's reading level range. Each quarter your child's teacher sets a goal for your child, based on his or her reading needs.
It's up to your child to select books from the AR list to read and take tests. Tests are on Cotswold School computers only. Students are able to bank points only by taking the tests at Cotswold Elementary School.
At Cotswold the books are marked in the media center for your child to locate and check out. It becomes your child's responsibility to reach reading goals.
As long as the book is on our AR list, you can get it from other places as well. We encourage children to check shelves at home or visit local libraries.
Progress carries over from year-to-year. Tests can only be taken one time.
To monitor your child's progress, you can go to Renaissance Home Connect.Your child's user name as password are the same as the ones they use for Renaissance Place at school. If you need information regarding your child's Home Connect account, please contact Katie Lock at Kathleen.Lock@cms.k12.nc.us.
