2016-17

 

      2016-17-School Hours-7:15 AM-2:15 PM. 

·        Future Enrollment begins in November, 2016.  Lottery process begins in December, 2016

·         Early College Calendar for 2016-17.  Begins on Aug. 8, 2016 and Ends on May 19, 2017

·         CEEC is a 5-year program and will serve grades 9-13

·        100 students per grade level

·         500 students by the 2018-19 school year

·         24 credits for HS earned on site at UNC Charlotte

·         Students have the potential to earn 60+ hours of college transfer credit during the 5-year program

·         Engineering Curriculum Focus in all classrooms

·         Partner with North Carolina New Schools

·         NAF Academy of Engineering

·         Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Curriculum in CTE Courses

·         All classrooms will focus on the Grand Challenges of Engineering in all coursework

·         Project Based Learning is a primary focus in all classrooms

·         Opportunities for Work-Based Learning and Internships

·         Standards-Based/Mastery Grading

·         Technology Rich Learning Environment

·         CEEC will serve as a regional site for research and professional development to enhance the overall quality and effectiveness of teaching and learning

·         CEEC will serve as a learning laboratory for the College of Education

·         The UNC Charlotte Center for STEM Education, the College of Engineering and the Energy   Production Infrastructure Center (EPIC) will be key partners.

·          Grade 9 Course work for 2016-17

o   Honors English I

o   Honors World History

o   Math I, II and/or III

o   Honors Earth Environmental Science and Honors Biology

o   PLTW Introduction to Engineering Design and PLTW Environmental Sustainability

o   Freshman Global Leadership Seminar

·          Grade 10 Course work for 2016-17

o   Honors English II

o   Honors Civics and Economics

o   Math II, III, IV or 5th Math Course

o   Honors Chemistry and Honors Physics

o   PLTW Principles of Engineering and PLTW Civil Engineering and Architecture

o   Sophomore Global Leadership Seminar

·         Foreign Language credits earned via NC Virtual Public High School

·         CEEC students will have the opportunity to take college coursework during the 11th grade year

·         Transportation provided by CMS.  Neighborhood stops added for 2016-17.

·         Breakfast and Lunch provided daily by CMS Food Service
