Two of Our IB Caring Cardinals Taking Action!

Juliana Bezer and Carter May set up a stand in their neighborhood and sold lemonade and baked goods to raise money for the 'Jump Rope for Heart' campaign!  Their efforts raised $106, which they are donating to the American Heart Society! 

Awesome job, Juliana and Carter - we are very proud of you and the example you are setting!




Congratulations Are In Order For Mrs. Revak Again!

Mrs. Revak was surprised with a visit from Dr. Dawn Robinson, Executive Director of the North Learning Community, on April 2nd and presented with the Teacher of the Year award for CMS' North Zone!  She is now one of nine teachers in the running for Teacher of the Year of the entire CMS District!  Please help us congratulate Mrs. Revak on another wonderful accomplishment! 





The Blythe Garden Project Was a Huge Success!

Spearheaded by our Plant & Share Club leader, Mrs. Raymond, the building and installation of garden beds was a huge success!  A special thank you to Leah Chester-Davis and our incredible partner, Davidson Presbyterian College Church, along with Ritchie Farms & Sawmill and Earth Farm Organics, for the materials and labor contributed.  Many thanks to all of the staff, students, parents, and volunteers who helped make this possible. How exciting this will be for our students in the Plant & Share Club!

Hats Off to Mrs. Revak and Blythe's Engineering Club!

Mrs. Revak, our incredible Science teacher, was the recipient of a $4,700 grant from the Charlotte Hornets for her innovative ideas!  The funds will support a field trip to the NASA Space Camp for more than 65 students participating in Blythe Elementary’s Engineering Club.   She was honored at the Hornets basketball game on January 24th.  Please help us congratulate her and her contributions to our school!

One of our own 5th grade students, Mongai Fankam, takes on Washington, DC!! 

Mongai visited Senator Coons who chairs the Foreign Relations Subcommittee on African Affairs.  They discussed her initiative, "No Backpack Day" and how it can be spread to other schools.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR BLYTHE TEAM FOR BEING THE 2014 HUMAN CHESS CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!  THIS IS THEIR SECOND YEAR IN A ROW!!!   Blythe Elementary won the Human Chess Tournament April 29th at Cornelius Elementary.  The three captains, Bobby Murray-Gramlich, Nicolas Ragone, and Armondo Ortiz, led the Blythe team to victory.

2014 International Week



The IB Team is hard at work while visiting Paw Creek Elementary School.



"Shamrocks for a Cure" was a huge success!  This year our cardinals raised over $2500.00 for the MDA program.  We are so appreciative of the generosity of our students.  Tyler and his family extend their thanks to all who helped with this campaign.



Congratulations to Sara Thompson who won the Chick-Fil-A @ Davis Lake essay writing contest!  Her prize was 50 free chick-fil-a sandwiches which she generously gave away to some after school tutoring students!  Thank you, Sara, for being so caring!



Our Blythe pride is showing!!....even after running in the Run T.O.O. Overcome Race in March!

Blythe had a wonderful Veterans Day Celebration last Friday, Nov.  8th to honor and pay tribute to our community veterans.  Principal Johanson also welcomed Dr. Alvin Brennan and Mayor Jill Swain as well as veteran Charles Sheard.  Blythe is very thankful to our veterans for their sacrifice and service to our country.

Ms. Johanson and Ms. Crompton received Blythe's Magnet School of Distinction plaque presented at the Magnet Schools of Americas held in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Blythe was one of twenty magnet schools in CMS recognized with this distinction.



Girls on the Run clubs members participated in the Girls on the Run 5K.




The Scholastic Spring Book Fair goal of parents, students, staff and community members purchasing 3000 books was reached! Look for the BOGO fair at the end of May!





Parents, Staff and Community Volunteers donated 39 life-saving pints to the American Red Cross during Blythe's Spring Blood Drive!  







 Blythe celebrates its first International Week!
