Important Information from the Front Office

School Hours: 7:45 a.m. – 2:45 p.m.

Regular attendance and punctuality are important from the beginning of the school year until the last day. Frequent absences, early dismissals and tardies interfere with your child's progress toward learning the necessary basic skills.

North Carolina law requires that all children enrolled in school must attend regularly. Parents are legally responsible for the school attendance of their children. Missing 10% of the year’s instruction may indeed put a child “at risk” of not mastering grade level competencies. Children who have exceeded 10 days of unexcused absences are in violation of the law and, therefore; the school can take necessary legal action to ensure that all students attend school.

The following reasons are considered excused absences:

  1. Illness Medical/Dental Appointments
  2. Death in family
  3. Religious holidays

Students are considered tardy if they are not in their classrooms by 7:45 a.m. (This includes students being carpooled.) Students who are dropped off in carpool after 7:50 am must have a parent come into the office sign them in for the day. All tardies are “unexcused” unless the student had a doctor/dentist appointment that morning. Please provide a copy of the appointment to the teacher at the time of arrival to school. By making sure your child arrives promptly for school, you are helping your child to develop a future work ethic that is also important in the work place. Teachers are required to keep a record of tardiness. Consistent tardiness will be referred to the school counselor and Administrative team. Students are not considered tardy if their bus is late.

**Students whose home school is not Beverly Woods and who do not comply with attendance, tardy, and dismissal expectations could be in violation of their transfer and could be sent back to their home school.

There will be no early dismissals after 2:00 p.m. as this disrupts classroom instruction at the end of the day. If you must pick your child up early for a doctor or dentist appointment, please provide a copy of the visit to the office the next day.

If a transportation change is needed for emergency reasons, the school will need a written permission note sent to the teacher. If you forget, please email the school secretaries (emails on school website) and call the school no later than 1:00 p.m. to make office aware of the request. (See also Car Riders and Early Dismissal). There will be no early dismissals after 2:00 p.m.

Book bags, lunches, homework, and reading glasses will be delivered to the class. Snacks, water bottles and technology devices will not be delivered to the classroom.

Allow two weeks for transcripts to be completed and mailed. Please attach four mailing stamps to the request for records form.
