Mrs. Carsten is in her tenth year as a Berryhill Teacher. In her ten years at Berryhill, she is achieved National Board Certification. She has a BS in Early Childhood Education as well as a Associate Degree in Business Administration. In May 2009, Leah graduated from Queens University of Charlotte with a Masters of Education in Literacy.
She is originally from Ohio and was a substitute teacher there in the Bellevue, Sandusky and Huron City School Districts. Before becoming a teacher, she spent 16 years working in the manufacturing world for Armstrong Heating and Air Conditioning.
Mrs. Carsten enjoys spending time with her husband, Rick, and her two daughters, Ashley and Holly. She has been married 22 years. Her interests include camping, swimming, hiking, and playing volleyball. Her daughter Ashley is a senior at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana where she is studying Business Communication. She will graduate in May of 2015. Holly is a senior at Renaissance at Olympic High School and will graduate in June of 2015.
On the weekends, you will find Leah in the stands cheering on Holly as she plays travel softball as one of their catchers. During the week, she is also supporting Holly as she plays sports for Olympic High School.
Vivian Herron has over a decade of teaching experience. This is her fourth year in CMS and her first year at Berryhill. She holds a Bachelors degree from Jackson State University. In addition to teaching, she enjoys writing, acting, and singing. Ms. Herron is a hall of fame athlete at Oral Roberts University and former professional basketball player.
