Berewick Elementary Tardy and Late Pick Up Procedures
The goal of Berewick is to maximize the learning potential for all students therefore procedures have been put in place to help achieve this goal.
Tardy Procedure: Our school day begins at 8 am at which time all students should be in their classrooms unpacked and at their seats ready to learn. When students arrive late it is a disruption to the classroom and makes is difficult for the student to get situated quickly as instruction has already begun. The doors open at 7:30 am for the car riders. Breakfast is served at that time and we ask that all car riders eating breakfast be in the cafeteria by 7:45 am to ensure they can get to class on time. At 8 am parents will be required to park, walk their child into the office, sign them in on the computer tardy and the student will take a tardy pass to their classroom.
Once a child accrues 6 tardies a letter will be sent home to remind parents that students need to be to school on time. If late arrivals continue, the parent will be required to conference with an administrator and the school counselor to determine a solution. A bus is available for all students that live in the Berewick Zone. If a student does not live in the Berewick Zone and the late arrivals continue after interventions were developed, the process may be implemented to assign the student to their home school according to CMS policy JCA-R where they can receive a bus.
Car Rider Late Pick Up Procedure:
Our school dismissal is at 3 pm at which time our car rider pickup with staff assistance begins. The car rider line with staff assistance ends at 3:20. If you arrive after 3:20, you must come in and sign your child out in a notebook. After you accrue 3 late pickups we will ask that you meet with Ms. Henderson or the school counselor to determine if there is a solution. A bus is always available to students that live in the Berewick zone.
If late pick ups continue after interventions are developed and the student doesn’t live in Berewick attendance zone, the process may be implemented to assign the student to their home school according to CMS policy JCA-R where they can receive a bus.
